Matti's 11th birthday

Someday I will figure out how to write individual captions, but at least Susan's meter won't read 4 weeks, or whatever it was at. Grandma, Aunt Jenni, and Noah were kind enough to drive in for the birthday evening, unfortunately they had to go back the next day. But we did have a nice lasagna/spaghetti dinner with the Flavin cousins: Karen, Dennis, and Katie, as well as Aunt Carole and Uncle Gene (collectively known as the Flavingly branch of the family)- we all missed Grandpa, however, just so he knows!

There is also one picture of the end of the slumber party. Beverly Hills Chihuahua. Six girls. Need I say more?

Fall Sports for the girls

OK, so here is my first attempt at blogging, and I've already erased my grandma singing songs. Matt will have to upload that again. Here are some pictures of the girls' sports this year-Matti is playing volleyball and Jules is playing soccer. every week. (and I have apparently no patience in waiting for these images to upload...)

As you may have noticed, it is much easier to get action shots from soccer than it is volleyball, alas.

Back to School

St. Peter is back in session and the girls are again dressed in the uniform best.  Mattingly starts 5th grade this year and Jules starts 1st grade.  It is a pretty big year.  Matti is on the cusp of adolescence with all the fun and drama that those years will bring and Jules has her first real elementary school class.

Jules rides her bike

Jules had two goals this summer:  (1) learn to swim and (2) learn to ride a bike.  She learned the basics of swimming a few weeks ago, and today . . . we took off the training wheels.
She mastered the basics in just a few short hours.

Mattingly rode around with her on bike and scooter.

We're letting Mattingly bike around more--going to the houses of nearby friends and such.  As a true proficient in all modes of human powered transportation, she now keeps asking when she'll get to drive a car.
